Mamma Mia-The Movie
Mamma Mia Here I Go Again
My my, how can I resist you! Since I purchased my own copy of Mamma Mia, I have watched it at least 30 times and I just finished watching it again making it the 31st viewing of this very entertaining movie. I have quite a lot of DVDs in my collection but with the rare exception, I never seem to have much desire in watching a flick more than a few times. So what is it about Mamma Mia that makes me want to watch it over and over again?
The Best Movie To Brighten Up Your Day
Perhaps it's the catchy music by Abba or the beautiful scenes of a idyllic Greek island. Or maybe it's the fact that Meryl Streep is just so darn funny in this movie. Whatever it reason is, this movie never fails to inject a dose of joy into my day. And who knew that Abba songs would fit so well into a movie? It's amazing really. Each song fits seamlessly into the storyline and isn't awkward in any way. If you've ever been a fan of Abba, you know how catchy their songs can be. Even Madonna was inspired to use Abba's Gimme Gimme Gimme for her hit Hung Up. There are approximately 17 songs that are featured in the movie including some of my favorites like Dancing Queen, Lay All Your Love On Me, and The Winner Takes It All.
The amazing cast includes some big names such as Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep as well as the beautiful Amanda Seyfried who has the voice of an angel. I am a fan of Julie Walters and Christine Baranski after seeing them in their hilarious roles as the two best friends of Donna ( Meryl Streep ). I was especially impressed with Meryl Streep belting out The Winner Takes It All in one of the most memorable scenes in the movie. And although I agree with most people on Pierce Brosnan's singing ability, it doesn't bother me that much. Besides I've always liked him in the earlier James Bond movies.
Filmed on location on a beautiful Greek island, the movie is a feast for the eyes which is why if you can, I would suggest getting the Blu Ray version of the movie. The spectacular scenery is too beautiful for words and watching the movie on Blu Ray virtually transports me to the beautiful islands of Greece. If you're not able to watch it on Blu Ray, don't worry because the movie also comes in DVD format.
If You Haven't Seen The Movie Yet, Just Watch It
I've recently invited a friend, who hates musicals, to watch it with me and much to my surprise, he loved it! Most of my friends enjoyed the movie as well with the exception of my sister who just can't stand happy movies. Yes, it's a very happy movie and at times extremely silly. But that's probably why I love it so much. Mamma Mia makes the perfect gift for anybody but especially for the that perpetually grumpy friend. This movie is pure joy and fun it's guaranteed to brighten up anyone's day.
