Making Memories at Walt Disney World

Updated on September 26, 2014

My Love for Disney World

Who doesn't love Disney World?

I still remember the first time I went to Walt Disney World in Florida. I was overwhelmed at the size and scope of this mega-resort and with very little planning, we missed out on a lot that there was to see. Now I'm not saying that we didn't enjoy the trip because we had a blast! It's just that there were so many things we could have done differently to save a lot of time.

Walt Disney World is huge and unlike the other Disney resorts around the world, it's one big city! So when I started planning for my next trip to this magical place, I decided to pick up a copy of Birnbaum's Guide to Walt Disney World and do some research.

I've now been to the resort over a dozen times and that's quite a feat considering it takes approximately 17 hours total to get there from Tokyo (this includes transfer time at a North American hub like Chicago for instance).

I love the Disney resort for the sheer number of things to do there. Whether you're looking for a vacation with non-stop activity or wanting something more relaxing, the resort pretty much offers this and much more.

A Reunion at WDW

A Reunion to Remember

It all happened sort of by accident. I had friends who lived in Osaka ( 1 hour plane ride from Tokyo) who I haven't seen since the 80's and a good friend who I had just recently reconnected with after we lost touch. So we made lunch plans to catch up.

During the lunch, I casually mentioned to my friend about wanting to take a vacation in the next few months and he decided that he'd like to go as well. I had originally planned to go just with my cousin and another friend of mine so this was perfect. That same evening, I got a message from my friend in Osaka telling me she was planning a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida.

I thought that it would be cool to meet up with her in Florida since I haven't seen her for so long so after checking ticket prices and other details, the trip was decided. We would all be going to Walt Disney World for holiday!

Now I probably don't have to tell you that most people in Japan don't take long vacations simply because they can't. We had exactly 8 days and that meant only 5 full days at the Disney Resort. With four theme parks, two water parks and other attractions too many to mention, planning was crucial.

After researching the web for a good book, I finally decided on the official guide book as I heard good things about it. I also wanted it for the amount of details that are included in the guidebook.

The Official Book

The Official Guide Book is Simply The Best

We had five full days in Orlando so with the help of Birnbaum's Guide to Walt Disney World, I started to create a detailed itinerary so that we could make the best use of the limited amount of time we had.

You see, I'm the type of person that needs to have everything planned out to make sure everything goes perfectly.

Of course I don't expect everything to go smoothly and it's not that we have do everything according to plan but I just need to have some kind of master plan that I can work with. I'm kind of anal about it, but I can't help it. I really enjoy the planning process and it's part of the fun.

Of course the main reason was that I wanted to make sure that everyone would have the best time possible including me.

The Bottom Line

All the careful research and planning really saved us a lot of time, money and headaches. By familiarizing ourselves with the help of Birnbaum's guidebook, we felt so much more confident about tackling this huge resort.

The guide includes virtually everything one needs for a near-perfect vacation at Disney World. From dining options to the myriad of vacation plans available, everything we needed to know was included plus more!

As a bonus, coupons you can use at the resort are included at the back of the book, saving you even more money in the process.

Whether this is for your first time or your twentieth time, Birnbaum's Guide will help you make the most of your Walt Disney World vacation.
