Creative Halloween Costume Ideas for Women
Halloween Fun
For some people Halloween conjures up thoughts of jack-o-lanters, black cats and witches on broomsticks. For others it might be chocolates, candies and trick-or-treating. For many adults, it's all about finding the perfect costume and a chance to be someone or something else! I loved trick-or-treating when I was a kid. My mother didn't celebrate Christmas with us, but she took us trick-or-treating for some reason.
I loved getting dressed up and getting all the delicious morsels of sugar in all shapes and sizes. No wonder I got so fat! It really was all about the sweets for me. Once I felt that I was too old to go and beg for candy from total strangers, I discovered the fun of dressing up in costumes you wouldn't be caught dead in on a normal day.
I did all the normal or traditional costumes....dracula, priest, burglar and so on. After awhile I started to get bored with these traditional looks and I was hardly given a second look at my unoriginal costumes. So one day I decided to go as a bed. The decision was easy because I was tight on money that certain year and the only thing I could find around my house was an old bed sheet. I was also out of time for a last minute invite to a party.
I basically took the sheet, wrapped it around myself and carried a pillow around town with me. It was absolutely silly but everyone seemed to notice the strange man walking around with a sheet and pillow. I rather enjoyed the attention and it was the closest I've come to feeling like a celebrity.
Halloween is not as big here in Japan as it is in the US. Trick or treating is not practiced at all except in a handful of major shopping malls. It's more used as a marketing tool to get families to visit the mall. Halloween parties are mostly held at clubs and other nighttime venues for young adults. The best way for adults to indulge in this holiday here is to have home parties where they can invite their friends to dress up and celebrate any way they desire.
The last time I had a Halloween party was six years ago so perhaps I'll have a Halloween party this year. The great thing about Halloween is that it can be enjoyed by people of all ages in whatever style they want. It's also great fun too!
There's a superhero in all of us
I've always found something exciting and sexy about superheros. The costumes are all tight fitting and they all seem larger than life. Superheros have superhuman powers and usually have the ability to fly. What's more sexy than that? :) I tried transforming myself into spiderman and superman in the past. One of my male friends decided to dress up as Marilyn Monroe and that was a blast! However it does take a fair amount of courage to dress up as Marilyn when you're a guy so superhero was my choice for that year.
It was great fun and we both got about the same number of compliments and humorous comments along the way. In fact we had more fun walking down the street and on the trains than at the actual party we were going to.
Superhero costumes
I've always been a fan of Spiderman...you know that guy in the spandex outfit that's incredibly tight-fitting and all.
One year I acually got up the nerve to go as the Incredible Spiderman. No kidding! I had a blast! Spandex outfit and all!
Having a mask on helped me get over my inhibitions and who knew how much fun it could be to transform yourself into something different, even if it's just for a day?
Oh, Supergirl is pretty awesome too! Just not as awesome as Spidey. Hehe

Inspirations from Japan
A Japanese theme can be a great way to impress and express the Asian in you. You can choose to be a sexy and mysterious geisha. How about a strong and courageous samurai? Others may prefer to be a Japanese lolita girl, which is just as popular with Japanese girls themselves.
You can also learn how to make up your face like a geisha. I have a video tutorial right below this so that may interest you. The make up works great with other looks as well because of the dramatic look. If you have a yukata or kimono you've purchased on a past trip to Japan, you can complement the look with props like a Japanese fan and geta sandals.
