The East-Meets-West Fusion Hot Dog

Asian Fusion Hot Dog

Did you know that hot dogs are quite popular here in Japan? Of course it's not always easy trying to find one unless you happen to be at a McDonald's for breakfast. Yes, they serve the hot dog ( called a McHotDog ) as a breakfast item and ONLY for breakfast. You can also find them at the concession stands of movie theaters as well as the local Costco or IKEA stores.

I myself do enjoy the occasional sausage in a bun and since I haven't had one in awhile, I decided to make some for an easy dinner. However I decided to spruce up the dog a bit, especially since a friend was coming over to watch an episode of Glee with me.

Introducing the East-Meets-West Hot Dog

This is my take on an east-meets-west version of a hot dog. I basically combined an all-American hot dog with a garlic-infused Asian stir-fry. Instead of mustard or ketchup, I used mayonnaise spiked with wasabi to give it a surprising kick. Finally the entire thing is smothered in melted cheese. How's that for a crazy fusion hot dog?

At first I wasn't so sure about the combinations of flavors and like many things in life, you never know until you actually try it. I'm happy to say that they turned out better than I expected and really transformed these otherwise normal hot dogs into something that's truly out of this world.
